Health Care for All

Dear Care for Crash Victims Community Members:

Health Care is vital for the survival of us all.   But as we have most clearly seen recently, Republicans have long sought to restrict access to life-saving health care.  See
https://www.careforcrashvictims.com/blog/red-state-and-blue-state-safety-records-portend-many-more-tragedies-in-america/

Nader has just described the U.S. health care problem as follows:
“Without health insurance, about 35,000 Americans die each year; many more stay sick or injured because they cannot afford insurance to get diagnosed and treated in time. About 30 million people fall into that helpless, hurtful category.

Those tens of millions more Americans who are underinsured can barely figure out where they are covered and how much they have to pay or go without.

For the most vulnerable of these Americans, the choice is morbidly clear: pay or die.”

Nader proposes one way to fight for single payer health care is as follows:
“A majority of Americans, including a significant number of conservatives, favor single payer, full Medicare for all. So do a majority of physicians and nurses, currently in thralldom to corporatist dictates.

How to get there from here? Listen to Warren Buffett, the multi-billionaire and sage from Omaha; he favors full Medicare for all as being more efficient and humane (A single payer system has far less administrative costs and billing fraud). Then he tells us the pathway to turning this whole madness and mayhem around. To paraphrase what he once said, there are only 535 members of Congress (100 senators and 435 representatives), and we’re over three hundred million people. Why can’t we control these legislators?

Imagine if a very rich, enlightened person pledged one billion dollars to fund the organizing of a few thousand serious volunteers in every Congressional District, each having four full-time advocates. Working with these volunteers, each dedicating 300 to 400 hours a year in Congressional watchdog associations,  this watchdog initiative would immediately represent a majority of Americans. Within 36 months, with a consequential election in 2018, our country would have comprehensive, universal, affordable, simpler single payer (full Medicare for all), saving lives, livelihoods and endless family anguish and fear.”

According to Forbes there are about 100 Billionaires in the U.S. each worth more than $10 Billion.  See

Nader is right about the need and potential of organizing people (4 full time advocates and a few thousand serious volunteers) in each of the Congressional Districts.

I have created Congressional Mapping Tools that show the number of crash deaths in each State and in each Congressional District for each year 2002 – 2015.  Just click on each and the annual statistics of crash deaths in that State or District pop up.  This is a starting point that indicates the potential number of crash victim families that might wish to volunteer.

In addition, imagine office space and personnel in each District that could be volunteered by law firms, labor unions, medical facilities, educational facilities, and citizen consumer groups.

We the people can do this.

Red State and Blue State Safety Records Portend Many More Tragedies in America

Dear Care for Crash Victims Community Members:

The three branches of the Federal government of the U.S.A. have shifted sharply to Red.   Health and safety policies are being scrapped endangering us all.

We can examine the results on people in Red States in recent years to understand what will soon tragically be happening to people in both Red and Blue States.

Legal Reader has kindly published an article on the subject at http://www.legalreader.com/republican-red-states-care-less/

The article contains some information tools that advocates can use to build a Safer America.

Deregulation and Trustworthiness

Dear Care for Crash Victims Community Members:

Republican Trump’s “Deregulation” Teams

The NY Times reports:
WASHINGTON — President Trump entered office pledging to cut red tape, and within weeks, he ordered his administration to assemble teams to aggressively scale back government regulations. But the effort — a signature theme in Mr. Trump’s populist campaign for the White House — is being conducted in large part out of public view and often by political appointees with deep industry ties and potential conflicts. Most government agencies have declined to disclose information about their deregulation teams. But The New York Times and ProPublica identified 71 appointees, including 28 with potential conflicts, through interviews, public records and documents obtained under the Freedom of Information Act.

Republican and Democrat Officials

The Washington Post publishes an article on how the FBI evaluates people for U.S. security clearances.
A former FBI official tells us how they measure people seeking positions of public trust.  Carla F. Bad is an acronym the FBI uses to remember the characteristics they examine: Character, Associates, Reputation, Loyalty, Ability, Finances, Bias, Alcohol, and Drugs.

Imagine if we the people examined our public officials for their trustworthiness in our governance using the same measures.

How do prospective officials measure up?

  •   Character: admirable or questionable?
  • Associates: people like us or billionaires and mobsters?
  • Reputation: protecting people or profits?
  • Loyalty: to people or corporate interests?
  • Ability: to govern or exploit?
  • Finances: transparent or hidden?
  • Biases: fairness or discriminatory?
  • Alcohol: use or abuse?
  • Drugs: legal or illegal?
Choices for “We the people”

How these questions are asked and answered are matters of life or death importance to America’s future safety and happiness.

Will we have:

  • Truth or Lies?
  • More Greed or More Good?
  • Equality or More Inequality?
  • Health care or Wealth care?
  • Climate care or corporate care?
  • Better education or more ignorance?
  • Safer America or an Unsafer America?
  • Democracy or Oligarchy?
  • Justice or more injustice?
  • War or Peace?

The choices are ours to make.  The question is: Will we the people act – wisely?

There are trustworthy people and organizations working to help us all:

Empowering People With Information

Dear Care for Crash Victims Community Members:

On this Independence Day holiday weekend, an estimated 600 Americans will lose their lives and another 2,400 will be “seriously” injured in the U.S.A. due to vehicle violence.

So far this year under Republican President Trump an estimated 16,406 Americans have lost their lives due to vehicle violence.

Another 23,809 Americans have lost their lives due to automotive air pollution caused early deaths since Inauguration Day 2017.  See https://www.careforcrashvictims.com/trump-clocks/

Many people injured and ill in America are cared for in nursing homes which are facing major cuts in funding under the Republican “Healthcare” bill currently in Congress.

What are American citizens to do?

To address this question Legal Reader has published an article I submitted titled “Empowering People With Information”.  It includes info on using the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by Michael R. Lemov who was involved in enacting the law.

It also has a recent example of respected researchers using FOIA to keep NHTSA honest.

Also see article on FOIA resources available from IRE.  See https://www.careforcrashvictims.com/blog/great-resource-for-protecting-we-the-people/

Readers can also join Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE) to get additional IRE Journals and resources.  See https://www.ire.org/

American public opinion was, and still is, the first key to gaining our independence, “safety and happiness” as written in the Declaration of Independence.

Let’s work together to make America’s future safer and happier.

Occult Injury Preventable Death?

Dear Care for Crash Victims Community Members:

Here is a crash death that raises questions about the quality of care given to a crash victim.

Tennis star Venus Williams was involved in a crash that resulted in the death of a 78 year old man weeks after the crash of brain injury.

Reports of the crash and “wrongful death” law suit against Ms. Williams are at

NHTSA research found that brain injuries in crashes are often missed especially in older patients.  I remember one case where an older man was given a half body cat scan for his lower extremity injuries but died weeks later of brain injuries that had not been scanned until weeks later (when it was too late).  I asked the surgeon why only a half body scan was done in the first place.  He said cost.  I asked how much more would a full body scan cost?  He said not much difference in cost but that there was a difference in schedule payments that could be justified.

See NHTSA research on crashes injuries, treatments and outcomes at  https://www.careforcrashvictims.com/assets/CIREN1.pdf

See NHTSA & University of Miami research on Occult injuries at https://www.careforcrashvictims.com/assets/CIREN2.pdf

Hopefully deeper investigation of the emergency medical care of this crash victim can result in improvements in care for crash victims.
